Who we are is a very important question that the 1st and 2nd grade students are studying. They are learning about DGE, Dalton, Georgia, the South, United States, North America, Northern Hemisphere, Earth, Milky Way....SO what is your universal address?

Cyber Lounge is OPEN

The Cyber Lounge is up and running. Students have begun doing research for various projects. The third graders will be visiting the World of Coke in October, so they wanted to read up on the fasinating Southern company. Third Graders will also be operating a business, Slushies Galore. More details will be coming soon.

Book Clubs

The fifth graders began their book club this morning. The Children of the Lamp is the novel that we are discussing. While enjoying tea and cookies, students talked about the setting, characters and themes....without even realizing they were doing so!

LEGO League! A new team is formed at DGE!

The FIRST Lego League is one of the most exciting programs that I have ever seen. As I was receiving my inital training, I thought my brains would explode! It was so awesome, challenging, cool, extremely COOL!!!!.The DGE 4th and 5th grades will form teams to complete the Climate Connections project. This project will include researching climate, presenting the information and programming the robots to complete the missions needed to carry out the solution to the climate crisis. Wow! Fourth and fifth grade classes will begin the process very soon, like next week. I am including a few links so that you can find out more information. We will all learn about this together!!! These classes also received a paper inviting them to a Bot'ober fest in Atlanta on September 28th. I will be going. It is free and I have already registered for us! (Up tp 10 people) This workshop will help us figure out what we are doing! Can you tell that I am excited!!!!

Thank you so much for completing the information in the four forms that I sent home with your child. Two of the forms concerned the internet and your permission for your child to surf the web. The other two forms were for me to gather important information about your child. Thank you again for being so prompt. If you have not gotten those forms turned in to me, please do so as soon as possible.
